In footsteps of the colonial period

Tour Highlights:

  • You visit ‘Domaine des Aubineaux’, a typical manor house whose stately residence was built in 1872. Today it is no longer inhabited, but an important part of the island’s colonial rule and history.
  • In the house you will see antique furniture, some from the 17th century, and a collection of many photos from past times. Many of them show long-destroyed colonial houses and the typical life during this era.
  • In the spacious garden there are tall camphor trees as well as many tropical plants and palm trees. In addition to the old stables, there is a distilling plant in which essential oil is produced.
  • The owners of this house are still active in the tea trade today and our next stop will take you to the tea plantation of Bois Cheri.
  • It is the largest on the island and after a tour of the tea museum we will of course also show you how tea is made in the factory. Afterwards, you can taste a variety of teas during the tea tasting.
  • Please note that the tea factory may not produce daily depending on the season. A visit to the beautiful colonial house of St. Aubin built in 1819 closes the day.
  • St. Aubin is best known for its vanilla and rum distillery, the production of both we will of course show you and a small taste of the different rum varieties is also planned.
  • This tour lasts about 8 hours, you decide at what time you want to start.
